Firefox, zotero and COinS

Created COinS metadata in an HTML file, but had trouble getting zotero to recognise it. Actually its too simple, once zotero recognises there is COinS metadata it places a book icon next to the URL, click this and the metadata gets added to zotero!!
(Its real teckiee – but those who use zotero will understand)

Hard Disk Manager / Music maker (PC Authority Oct 09 Cover Disk)

A useful utility on the cover disk of Australian PC authority ( http://www.pcauthority.com.au/ ) is Paragon’s Hard Disk Manager (9.5 SE)

I am often confronted with students who have trashed their Hard Drives (or the drive have magically trashed themselves). This utility allows you to create a complete backup of the drive. Additionally if you want to upgrade your HDD to a bigger one it has a wizard to do this.

Also included is Magix Music Maker Silver for those of you who want to create your own “original ” music.

Adding an RSS Feed to Facebook (connecting your blog)

If you are running a blog and have a facebook account how can you connect them together, so you only have to type stuff in once (in the blog) and it pops up in Facebook?

Ok, so this is got to ba an example of poor “User Interface Design”. I worked this out a month ago, and thought I’d document it.. but couldn’t recall the steps (in spite of just having completed it!)

Anyway, thought I’d have another go today.. and eurika I worked out what to do!!

So follow these steps!!

Click on your name (on the facebook bar at the top of the screen)
Click on the Options link (Just below the [Share] button on the “Whats on your mind window”
If “Stories Posted by You” > Available sites is not showing, click on the settings button (Just below the [Share] button)
On the Available Sites: Click on Blog/RSS
In the Public URL enter your blog site, then click [Import]

.. and thats all!!

This is also where you connect Flickr/Delicious/YouTube etc…
